Earthquake: A 7.2 magnitude earthquake has struck Peru, raising the threat of a tsunami. The USGS raised the intensity rating shortly after the quake struck 8.8 kilometers (5.5 miles) from the Atikipa district. The US Geological Survey said a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of central Peru on Friday, raising the possibility of tsunami waves in some coastal areas.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center had earlier said that there was no danger. However, after the earthquake, it warned that waves up to three meters high could rise on some beaches.

There was an earthquake in Peru on June 16 as well
